VICE ADMIRAL NN KUMAR AVSM, VSM

Vice Admiral NN Kumar was commissioned on 01 Apr 1974 and did his post graduation from IIT Delhi in Radar & Communications and trained in Italy for CAIO.  
 
The Flag Officer has held various appointments at Sea and in Repair  & Training Organisations including the appointment of Deputy General Manager (Weapons), Joint Director of Personnel and as Commanding Officer INS Valsura. The Flag Officer was appointed as the Director General Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE) on promotion to Flag rank. The Admiral held the post of ASD (MB) from Nov 08 to Nov 09 
 
Vice Admiral NN Kumar has been awarded Vishisht Seva Medal in 2000 and AVSM in 2008 and is an alumnus of the National Defence College.
 
The Flag Officer was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral on 01 May 2009. In his previous  appointment, the Flag Officer held the appointment of Controller Warship Production and Acquisition  from Nov 2009 to 31 Oct 2012. 
 
Vice Admiral NN Kumar, AVSM, VSM took over as the Chief of Materiel on 31 Oct 2012.
