The Naval Academy Project is one of the most prestigious projects of the Indian Navy. The work on the Project commenced in 2000. Plans are to construct a state of the art training establishment, at par with the best Academies of the world. The Base Depot will be commissioned in Apr 05. Training for the Naval Orientation Course will commence in Aug 2005.

The Academy, when completed will cater for 750 cadets, with infrastructure planned for 900 cadets. The facilities being built comprise: -

Cadets Mess and five squadrons with a capacity to accommodate 150 cadets each.

Physical Training Complex comprising an international size covered swimming and diving pools, PT sheds, Parade Ground and athletic track with spectators galleries, cadets caf etc.

  • Academy Main Building Complex which will have a Headquarter Wing, Technical Wing and a Service Wing along with a full fledged three floor library and 1800 seat auditorium.
  • Supporting infrastructure will comprise 207 officers married accommodation in various categories, 780 sailors and civilian married accommodation, officer mess, sailors institute, community centre, shopping complex, KV school and a 60 bed hospital. 

The Cadets Mess Accommodation and the Physical Training Complex will be ready for occupation by mid 2005. The married accommodation is expected to be available in phases for occupation with effect from end 2005. The entire Project is planned to be completed by end 2007/early 2008, when all the facilities will be ready for occupation.
