North Pole Expedition

A ten member team led by Cdr Satyabrata Dam (03313-R) was flagged off by Hon’ble RURM on 10 Mar 08. The delegation reached the destination (North Pole) on 09 Apr 08 at 2016 hrs (IST). The completion of the North Pole expedition is the crowning achievement in the history of adventure world. The ten member team had to undego rigorous training, physical as well as mental conditioning to take up this challenge. The expedition went through Norway. The journey was excruciating and difficult and the weather was unfavourable for most of the days. The team overcame all hurdles with courage, determination and true grit. With the successful completion of the North pole expedition the following records were established:-

• First organisation in the world to reach all the three poles.
• First Indian team to ski to geographic North Pole.
• First Indian team to ski to both poles.
• First Indians (Cdr S Dam, Rakesh Kumar POM (retd) & Vikas Kumar POM) to do all the three poles (Mt Everest, South Pole & North Pole)
