‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ and ‘Clean and Green Mission’ Campaigns Organised at ANC

Headquarters Naval Component organised a ‘Swachh Samudra Abhiyaan’ on 10 July 2019 near Indian Navy Jetty at Port Blair. The initiative aimed to reduce marine pollution through salvage of non-biodegradable waste from the harbour sea bed and support coastal ecological system. The campaign was led by Naval Component Commander and offered an opportunity for volunteers to perform underwater dive and supplement manpower engaged in sea bed cleanship. The event witnessed wide participation enabling cleaning of 1,000 sq metres of sea bed area up to a depth of 12 metres. The evolution was conducted in a safe, systematic and controlled manner, under close supervision of specialist from naval Clearance Diving Unit.
