Swarnim Vijay Mashaal at INS Parundu

The celebrations to commemorate the glorious victory in 1971 Indo Pak War, commenced in December 2020. Four Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (victory flame) were lit from the eternal flame of the National War Memorial and one each is being carried to the four cardinal directions throught the cities and villages of  1971 War Veterans & Veernaris. The victory flame of the Southern District's reached INS Parundu on 13 July 2021. The Station Commander Captain Venkatesh R Iyer along with naval personnel, families, dignitaries from Civil Administration, War Veterans, Ex-servicemen paid homage to the Victory Flame with a  Ceremonial Guard of Honour to commemorate the golden victory year at INS Parundu, on 14 July 2021. It was followed by a  Wreath Laying Ceremony.  War Veterans and Ex-servicemen shared their life experience with young defence personnel. The attendees and dignitaries paid homage to our veterans with flower petals at the base of the Victory Flame. The visiting veterans were felicitated by the Naval community at Parundu. The event was organised adhering to strict COVID protocols. The Flame was taken around various places in and around Ramanathapuram such as Collector Office, residence of War Veterans of Sub S Ramaiya (Retd) and Sgt  K Ramasamy (Retd). The flame has been kept for families of Defence personal to pay tribute to the Veers of 1971 War. The flame will be taken to Naval Detachment (Ramnad), ICG Station Mandapam, Dhanushkodi and Abdul Kalam Memorial, and further will remain in the Station till 16 July 2021.  Thereafter, the Flame will be on its way towards Madurai.
