Capt(TS) Abhijit Parasnis was commissioned on 01 Jul 1995. He is an alumnus of the 8th 10+2(X) Naval Academy Course. He has specialized in Long Logistics and Management and Submarine course. The Officer has served on board IN Ships Sindhukesari, Sindhudhwaj, Godavari, Delhi etc and tenanted appointments ashore at MO(Mbi), HQSNC, NPO, INS Virbahu. He took over as Logistics offcier at INS Shivaji on 18 Oct 2021.

 

 

Roles and Responsibility

The main role and responsibility of the Logistics department is to provide logistics support to following personnel of Station Lonavla

  • 100 Staff Officers
  • 410 staff sailors
  • 3500 trainees (Officers and Sailors) per year
  • INHS Kasturi
  • DSC Personnel
  • Naval NCC Unit at Pune – P&A and Clothing
  • Air Force Station at Lonavala – Fresh Provisions
  • IMD Pune - P&A and Clothing for Naval Officers borne for MET Course
  • Naval Officers and sailors borne in AFMC Pune and Command Hospital – P&A and Clothing

“One who is logistically well equipped always wins.” Abiding by the adage, the Logistics Department of INS Shivaji maintains a stellar supply chain management to ensure that the Unit achieves all its assigned tasks with flying colours. The department provides Material, Financial and Human Resource Management Services to all units of Station Lonavla within the ambit of laid down Naval Regulations. The department practices equanimity while carrying out judicious utilization of funds allotted to the Unit to achieve overall development and improvement of existing resources of the entire station. The department runs six galleys where sumptuous food is prepared for all trainees and inliving staff personnel including international trainees. The Logistics Officer also acts as the Defence Civilian Establishment Officer, responsible for the administration of all Defence Civilians borne at INS Shivaji.
