EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT

The Executive Department is the pivotal agency entrusted with the responsibility of providing necessary administrative support required for the training divisions of Station Lonavla to discharge their core duty of training with perfection. The Executive sub-departments and other support departments of Shivaji act as pillars of strength on which the entire training infrastructure stands, thrives and sustains. Whilst the Executive department takes care of the outbound training of trainees such as parade, PT, sports, adventure and weapon training, it, more importantly, also caters to the welfare and morale of the trainers/instructors posted at Shivaji by ensuring proper accommodation, basic community life support facilities, recreational avenues and safety & security for them and their families. The department is mandated to maintain seamless integration of Officers, Sailors and Civilians of the entire base in a tight knit community and ensure that morale of the ship’s company is high at all times while they remain disciplined and focused in a service like disposition.

Sailors’ Institute

The Sailor’s Institute ‘Lehrein’ provides an infrastructure for various recreational, welfare and entertainment activities for sailors and their families. The facilities include an open air sit out area and two fully furnished air conditioned guest rooms for the families of sailors. The Institute has a screen and projector for open sit out areas where special sports events such as IPL, International Cricket matches, Soccer World Cup, etc. are screened for the ship’s company.

Station Auditorium

Station Auditorium ‘Menaka’ is used for conduct of various station and training activities like prep talks, contemporary lectures, divisional workshops, valedictory functions, cultural events and lectures by visiting dignitaries. The auditorium is equipped with state of the art UFO digital system with cinema sound system and is utilised for screening latest Bollywood and regional movies for the personnel and families of Station Lonavla.

Watermanship Training Centre

The Station has a Watermanship Training Centre (WTC) which caters for training requirements as well as recreational sailing and watermanship activities for all personnel. Latest facilities available at WTC are Single/ Double Kayaks, EC Dinghies, Laser Radial and Laser Bahiya Sail Boats, Single/ Double skull Boats, Wind Surf Boards, Zorb–in balls. In addition, 4.7m RIB, DK Whalers and Gemini Crafts are available at WTC and are utilised for training purpose. The premises also include a beautiful lawn by the lakeside and a tower overlooking the Shivsagar lake/ dam which make for an excellent venue for Barakhana, Station/ Department get-togethers, picnics, etc.

Deepika Community Hall

. ‘Deepika’ is an auditorium-cum-community hall which is a venue for entertainment, welfare activities and get-togethers for sailors and their families. It also serves as a venue for birthday parties and festive events like Durga Pooja and Ganesh Pooja. The hall can accommodate approximately 150 personnel.

Sailors’ Transit Home

In order to cater for the accommodation requirements of Sailors’ families during transfers, four Petty Officer accommodations have been converted into transit homes. Each transit home is fully furnished for families to move in at any point of time.

Sailors’ Holiday Home

INS Shivaji by virtue of being located in the tourist destination of Lonavla, attracts a large number of outstation service personnel who come here on short personal visits or for short courses. As a result, the Unit needs to cater for the requirements of a large floating population including their families. These requirements are met through two Transit-cum-Holiday homes, ‘Basera’ and ‘Kinara’.

Samriddhi – Unit Run Canteen.

Niharika

A new regimental shop ‘Niharika’ adjoining the Unit Run Canteen was opened on 15 Jun 17 to meet the requirements of Non-CSD goods including provisions, grocery, apparels, hosiery, gift items and footwear for the ship’s company. An extension counter of the same has also been opened for the officers’ families in their residential area. The shop is well stocked and variety of items are maintained as per customer’s demands.
