INHS Kalyani Conducts CME Programme on "Diabetes Mellitus–Recent Advances"

A Continued Medical Education (CME) programme on ‘Diabetes Mellitus-Recent Advances’ was conducted by INHS Kalyani on 07 and 08 July 2018 at Visakhapatnam. The CME was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief ENC with Surgeon Vice Admiral AA Pawar DGMS (Navy) as the guest of honour. The CME was attended by over 200 doctors from the Armed Forces and civil hospitals. Delivering the inaugural address, Vice Admiral Karambir Singh emphasised on the clear and present danger posed by Diabetes to the world in general and the nation in particular as also its impact on the well-being of the naval community. Surgeon Vice Admiral AA Pawar, in his address and highlighted the psychological impact of diagnosis of Diabetes on an individual and the importance of psychosocial support in holistic management of the disease. The inaugural session was followed by two days of intense deliberations on various aspects of Diabetes and its complications and the latest research on the subject by various experts in the field of medicine.
