Civilian Athletic Championship at Naval Base

39th Southern Naval Command “Civilian Athletic Championship 2018-2019” commenced on 05 December 2018 at Naval Base, Kochi.  The chief guest for the opening ceremony was Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla, AVSM, NM, VSM Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command.

300 participants including 90 ladies representing more than 4000 civilian employees working in various units of Southern Naval Command would be participating in the athletic events. The participating teams include Naval Ship Repair Yard, Naval Armament Depot Aluva, INS Venduruthy, Naval Aircraft Yard Kochi, Material Organisation, and INS Zamorin, Ezhimala.  Athletic events include 100 mtr, 200 mtr and 400 mtr run, High jump, Tug of War, Discuss Throw, Javelin Throw etc. for both men and women, and 5000 mtr run, Pole Vault, Hammer Throw, 10 Km walk etc. exclusively for male participants.  

The closing ceremony of the meet will be on 07 December  2018 with Rear Admiral R J Nadkarni, VSM, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command as the Chief Guest who will also give away the prizes and trophies.

The annual athletic championship, is one of the many activities regularly undertaken at Naval Base, Kochi towards improving morale and motivation amongst its personnel.
