Commissioning of Advanced LOFAR Simulator at ASW School
An Advanced Low Frequency and Ranging (LOFAR) simulator was inaugurated by Vice Admiral AK Chawla, AVSM, NM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding–in–Chief, Southern Naval Command at Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) School, Kochi on 29 Mar 19. The Advanced LOFAR simulator is developed by M/s Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru to train LOFAR operators in analysis and classification of acoustic signatures of the target by using audio/ video techniques. The state-of-the-art simulator is capable of simulating acoustic signals encountered at sea during ASW operations. With the induction of the latest low frequency sonars into Indian Navy, the commissioning of this Advanced LOFAR simulator will enhance the training significantly that will increase the effectiveness of ASW operations.
