Mountaineering Expedition to Mt. Satopanth, a 7075 Metres Peak in Uttarakhand, was Flagged Off by Controller Personnel Services

A mountaineering expedition to Mt. Satopanth, a 7075 metres peak in Uttarakhand, was flagged off by Controller Personnel Services on 20 September 2019. The expedition team consists of 13 naval personnel, including 07 women officers and 05 sailors. The expedition, being led by Lt Cdr Nandini Damroy and Lt Cdr Pooja Sharma as Deputy Team Leader, is the second major expedition being undertaken by Indian Navy where majority of the climbers are women officers. The team assembled at Delhi on 18 September 2019 and underwent kitting up, physical and endurance training and a capsule in mountaineering at IMF (Indian Mountaineering Foundation) to hone their physical fitness and technical skills. They departed Delhi on 22 September 2019 and will commence the trek to Base Camp on 26 September 2019 after acclimatization and logistics preparations at Gangotri.
