Vice Admiral Deepak Kapoor, AVSM
Vice Admiral Deepak Kapoor, AVSM is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1986.
The Flag Officer has held various challenging appointments in his career spanning over 35 years. He has served as a non specialist Gunnery Officer onboard INS Rana. Thereafter he was Flag Lt to DG Coast Guard. On completion of his specialisation course, LLMC, the officer changed over to the Logistics cadre and served afloat as Logistics Officer onboard INS Viraat, INS Taragiri, INS Krishna and INS Mumbai. He has done an Instructor’s tenure at INS Hamla and as Joint Controller of Material Planning at MO(V).
He has served as Staff Officer to FOCEF and the Chief of the Naval Staff. A few other key appointments tenanted by him include Controller of Procurement, MO(Mbi), Principle Director, Directorate of Transport and Material Superintendent of Material Organisation (Karwar). He also served as the Commanding Officer of INS Hamla.
He was promoted to the Flag Rank of Rear Admiral on 01 May 2017 upon which he took over the appointment of Chief Staff Officer (Personnel & Administration), Eastern Naval Command. He was appointed as Assistant Controller of Logistics in Sep 2020. On promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral on 01 Mar 2021, he has taken over as the Controller of Logistics of the Indian Navy.
The Flag Officer is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College and has undergone the APPPA course from the Indian Institute of Public Administration. He has MPhils in Public Administration and Defence studies. The Flag Officer is also an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence College.
The Flag Officer’s hobbies include astrology and high altitude trekking and he is a keen sportsman with his favourite sports being badminton and volleyball. The Admiral is a seasoned mountaineer and has successfully completed his basic and advanced mountaineering courses.
He is a recipient of commendation by Chief of the Naval Staff in 2006 for his professional excellence and distinguished service.
He is married to Mrs Neerja Kapoor.
