Swarnim Vijay Mashaal at Indian Naval Academy

The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal, symbolising the 50th anniversary of India’s victory in 1971 Indo-Pak War, was hosted at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala from 16 - 23 Mar 21. The Victory Flame was received on 16 Mar 21 in a befitting ceremony by Vice Admiral M A Hampiholi, AVSM, NM, Commandant INA and Rear Admiral K Mohanan, AVSM (Retd), a War Veteran of 1971 War. To showcase the spirit of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, a host of ceremonial visits to nearby units and outreach to local community was coordinated by INA.

On 17 Mar 21, the War veterans visited INA and paid homage to the Victory Flame at ‘Prena Sthal – War Memorial’. Musical ode, audio/ video clips and paintings on the theme ‘Victory in 1971 War’ were showcased to the War veterans. On 18 Mar 21, the Victory Flame transited to 32 Kerala Battalion NCC and Nehru College of Arts and Science, Kanhangad witnessing spirited participation from NCC cadets, students and local authorities. On 19 Mar 21, a ‘Victory March’ was undertaken wherein the Victory Flame transited through Payyanur town with INA band and a marching contingent in attendance. The event was well received by the local populace and achieved the twin aims of inspiring the youth and showcasing the Naval grandeur in white.

The Victory Flame was exhibited at Kannur War Memorial on    20 Mar 21 for a wreath laying ceremony by Kannur Mayor, war veterans and military personnel. On 22 Mar 21, the departure ceremony for the Victory Flame was held with full military honours for further transit from INA to Headquarters, Southern Naval Command, Kochi. As a proud host from 16 - 23 Mar 21, the Victory Flame shall remain a cherished memory in the annals of INA history.
