Indian Naval Officer Successfully Completes Solo Cycling Expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari

Lieutenant Commander Manoj Gupta a serving Indian Naval Officer, presently appointed at Indian Naval Academy,  Ezhimala successfully completed a solo cycling expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The Officer undertook this challenging ride from 06 June 2018 to 16 July 2018 to create awareness regarding “Armed Forces Flag Day”, and join Indian Navy. The Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated annually on 07th December.

The expedition commenced from Khardung La in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, and was flagged off by Commandant, Ladakh Scouts Regimental Training Centre on 06 June 2018. The Officer covered a total distance of 4000 kms on his bicycle covering eleven states in this process. The expedition culminated at sunset point, Kanyakumari where he was received by officers and sailors from Indian Naval Ship Kattabomman.

The Officer, during the course of his expedition, interacted with students of  public and Sainik Schools and members of several riding and sports clubs and fellow citizens. He is the first officer from Indian Navy to complete a solo cycling expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
