NPOL Provides Sanitizers to Southern Naval Command

Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi has prepared alcohol-based hand sanitisers for use by essential personnel on duty, during the Corona pandemic, in accordance with the direction of Secretary Directorate for Defence Research and Development (DDR&D) and Chairman Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). 2000 number of these hand sanitisers, prepared based on the WHO guidelines, were handed over by Shri Sameer Abdul Azeez and his team from NPOL to the Southern Naval Command (SNC) on 08 April 2020 for use by personnel on duty.

Shri. S Vijayan Pillai, Director NPOL, has intimated that NPOL is also in the process of developing InfraRed scanners, Ultraviolet light bases kiosk for sample collection and many such innovative technology to fight against the pandemic. NPOL authorities also committed to source Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPEs) developed by DRDO and provide them for use at INHS Sanjivini, the Naval hospital at Kochi .
