6th Maritime Security Course Concludes at Naval War College Goa

Valedictory function of 6th Maritime Security Course (MSC-06), an international professional Military education programme for officers from maritime forces of friendly foreign countries held at Naval War College NWC, Goa on 03 September 2022. MSC-06 attended by officers from Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Maldives and Vietnam. The National Maritime Security Coordinator of India, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar (Retd), presided over the function and presented certificates and mementos to the course participants. Stressing upon the importance of maritime security in nation-building during his address, he remarked that in a dynamically changing geo-political scenario, there is a need for Navies of the Indian Ocean Region to forge stronger ties and collaborate in developing efficient security architecture in the maritime domain. Aimed at strengthening bridges of friendship and building consensus amongst regional maritime nations, the course curriculum covers a wide canvas in the strategic and operational domain. During the eight week programme, course participants were exposed to concepts of national security and strategy, Geopolitics, India’s strategic neighbourhood and maritime security operations and undertook sea sortie onboard frontline warships of the Western Fleet. They also interacted with subject matter experts and eminent speakers on varied subjects and visited various operational and training establishments of the Indian Navy during the course.
