Cycling Expedition by INS Valsura

A team of six cyclists comprising officers, sailors and a civilian from INS Valsura successfully completed an arduous cycling expedition of 580 kms from 09 to 18 July 2019. The team departed Manali on 09 July 2019 and crossed six passes during their expedition viz. Rohtang La (13,058 feet), Baralacha La (15,912 feet), Nakee La (15,547 feet), Lachung La (16,616 feet), Tanglang La (17,582 feet) and Khardung La (18,380 feet). The famous 21 Gata loops at 15,302 feet were also conquered by the cyclists. The topography and climate of Ladakh was a major challenge, with the team having to face blistering heat of 40°C during the day and bone-chilling cold of -5°C at night.
