INS India 77th Anniversary Celebrations:-

INS India, the only naval establishment in Delhi, celebrated it’s 77th anniversary on 13 July 2018. The complete event encompassed a blood donation camp, a station walkathon and a ship’s get together. The blood donation camp was held on 13th Jul 2018 and was a great success with participation by all directorates and departments in Delhi Naval area. The station walkathon was flagged off by the Chief of Naval staff on 14th July 2018. A total of 1000 personnel participated in the event along with ladies and children. The ship’s get together was conducted in the evening on 14th July 2018 and was a grand success with overwhelming response from the Naval community.

Picnic for Underprivileged and Special Children as a part of Navy Week Celebrations 2016, New Delhi

Picnic for Underprivileged and Special Children as a part of Navy Week Celebrations 2016, New Delhi:-

As  a part of Navy week celebrations 2016, a day out picnics for underprivileged children and differently abled children were conducted by INS India on 16 & 17 Nov 16 respectively at National Rail museum. 120 children of eight different schools of Delhi and adjoining areas took part in the events. A train joy ride for children was arranged followed by visit to museum. Children were excited to see the models of rails and stations inside the museum. Magic show was shown to children which was full of laughter and fun. Children enjoyed the rhythm of dholak and harmonium during music session which was followed by lunch. Gift hampers were distributed among children.

OPS Sadhbhawna Team Tour

OPS Sadhbhawna Team Tour:-

INS India organised an interaction session with Ops Sadhbhawna team, comprising of 25 girls belonging to martyr’s families, at Varunika on 09 November 2016. Major LS Bisht, Oi/C of Ops Sadhbhawna team along with girls and teachers visited Indian Navy to have a glimpse of Naval culture and its values. A presentation was shown to girls to motivate them to join forces followed by an interaction session with Naval women Officers over a cup of tea and snacks.

Golf Training Camp-17 Jun to 01 Jul 16

Golf Training Camp-17 Jun to 01 Jul 16:-

A golf training camp was organised at NOMA Kota House, Golf Practice Area from 17 Jun to 01 Jul 16 from 0630 hrs to 0830 hrs daily except Sundays. Training was imparted by two Services Golf Team Players/Coach. The camp was primarily for children of the age group of 08 yrs to 18 yrs. 10 Children, 03 ladies and 02 officers were trained.

A workshop on Diabetes and a screening camp was organised by INS India at Varunika on 05 May 16 for benefit of Naval Community.  Lecture was delivered by Surg Cdr Mayank Kackker which generated a grass-root awareness about this dreadful disease among the Naval community.

Vigilance Awareness Week

Vigilance Awareness Week was observed from 26 Oct to 31 Oct 15. The theme of the year was ‘Preventive Vigilance as a tool of Good Governance'. To bring awareness, importance and impact of the sensitive issues amongst the Naval community, the following activities were conducted:

A Lecture cum Interactive session was organized at Varunika, NSB-I Chanakyapuri at 1130 H on 30 Oct 15. Cmde Jyotin Raina, PDNI, the Chief speaker addressed Naval personnel on appropriate use of Social media keeping information security in mind. Citing a number of mistakes committed by naval personnel, he advised the gathering to be extra careful before divulging any information on social network. He also cautioned men in uniform not to post any official details on any digital media any time.

Diwali Mela-2015

Diwali Mela is being organised on 08th Nov 15 from 1100 Hrs onwards at NSB I Football ground at Chanakyapuri. No Entry fee. The main highlights of the event are as follows:

A Blood Donation Camp was organised by INS India on 20th Oct 2015 at INS India Complex. Blood Donation Camp created awareness among Naval Community and to collect units of blood which can help save many lives. A total of 175 units blood were collected.

Dental Examination Camp

A Dental Examination Camp was organised by INS India on 20th Oct 2015 at INS India Complex. Dental Examination Camp created awareness among Naval Community about the importance of good dental hygiene. A total of 87 volunteers were examined.

Toys Distribution

M/S Mattel India had gifted 26 packages of toys containing 25 toys each to INS India through AFMSD, Mumbai as a philanthropic activity for distribution to the special children of Armed Forces Personnel. To carry forward this noble effort, INS India conducted a Toys Distribution Activity at Varunika, NSB-I on 14 Oct 15.

Independence Day was celebrated on 15 Aug 15. Navy was the coordinating service for Independence Day. The naval guard was inspected by Prime Minister.

Lecture on Dengue Prevention and Control

As a part of Dengue Control measures a lecture on Dengue control & its prevention by Surg Lt Cdr Kaushik Roy, was taken on 29 Sep 15 to educate the Naval Community on this topic. In addition similar lectures are being conducted at all NSBs for the benefit of all families.

The equipments were purchased by Medical team and the frequency of spraying and fogging of naval residential areas was increased to twice a week. In addition, spraying and fogging was also done at official premises of various units and directorates.

World Heart Day was observed on 29 Sep 15 by the unit. On this occasion an interactive session on Heart Diseases and their prevention was conducted for the benefit of all sailors by Surg Cdr Mayank Kacker, Medical Specialist, INS India. In addition, information sheets on same topic were distributed along with NHQ notice and INS India Daily order.

Introduction

A Screening Camp for lifestyle diseases like Diabetes, Obesity, Hypertension and Coronary Artery Disease was organised by INS India on 19 Jun 15 at NSB-I, Chanakyapuri. The camp was held to screen the Naval population for lifestyle diseases in view of their increasing incidence amongst Indians.

Objective

The camp was held to screen the Naval population for lifestyle diseases in view of their increasing incidence amongst Indians. The camp was conducted at Varunika, NSB-I, Chanakyapuri from 1130 hrs to 1300 hrs and was inaugurated by Mrs Minu Dhowan, President, NWWA.

Conduct Of Camp

There were 4 counters to screen for diabetes, hypertension, obesity and Coronary Artery Disease using ECG. In addition the volunteers were offered consultation by Medical Specialist, Gynaecologist and General OPD services by PMO INS India. Approximately 120 volunteers participated in the camp and got benefitted.

Workshop on Healthy Living and Lifestyle Diseases

Introduction

A workshop on healthy living and lifestyle diseases like Diabetes, Obesity, Hypertension and Coronary Artery Disease etc was organised by INS India on 19 Jun 15 at NSB-I, Chanakyapuri as part of International Yoga Day celebrations.

Objective

The workshop was held to increase the awareness of the population about the morbidity and mortality related to lifestyle diseases and their increasing prevalence amongst developing countries like India. The workshop was held at Varunika, NSB-I, Chanakyapuri from 1030 hrs to 1200 hrs and was inaugurated by Mrs Minu Dhowan, President, NWWA. Attended by approximately 250 personnel including families. workshop comprised of three interactive sessions on lifestyle diseases, stress and yoga and techniques to reduce mental stress through yoga.

Conduct Of Workshop

An introduction on the increasing prevalence of lifestyle diseases was given by Surg Cdr TM Ramrao, PMO, INS India. Surg Capt NK Mahesh, Sr Adv in Cardiology from Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt stressed upon the various causes of lifestyle diseases, types of diseases and most importantly their prevention. Lt Col VK Chauhan, Psychiatrist form Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt brought out strategies to handle stress using Yoga techniques. Capt Sanjay Nirmal, DESA delivered a talk on methods to handle mental stress through Yoga and behavioural changes. The workshop witnessed healthy population from all sections of the population including ladies and children. Approximately 300 volunteers attended the workshop and benefited from the workshop.

International Yoga Day  - 21 Jun 16

With International Yoga Day on June 21, INS India has undertaken a 21 day capsule to popularise yoga amongst the Naval community and to spread the message of healthy living. The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lamba, AVSM, SM, ADC attended the workshop on June 21 along with the Naval community.
