INS Sumitra awarded on the spot Unit Citation by Admiral R Hari Kumar CNS, for her successful conduct of Anti Piracy Operations in Central Arabian Sea, apprehending 11 Somali Pirates & rescuing 17 Iranian & 19 Pakistani nationals from hijacked FVI man & FVAl Naeemi.

The operations were swiftly undertaken by ship using integral fire power, indigenous ALH helicopter & IndianNavy's special Ops team.
