INS Venduruthy Celebrates its 76th Anniversary

As part of INS Venduruthy’s Platinum Jubilee activities, the establishment is undertaking cleaning up of the 2.5 Kms long ‘Backbay’ channel, recently renamed as ‘Venduruthy channel’. The unit has taken various initiatives to clear the channel on a regular basis and to also plant ‘Vetiver’ plants that are known to prevent soil erosion and to restore natural ecosystem. INS Venduruthy is also carrying out various outreach activities, which include extending help to residents of Vathuruthy Village and refurbishment works at Government Destitute Home, Palluruthy. On the occasion of Platinum Jubilee, Commanding Officer, INS Venduruthy, awarded cash prizes to sailors and defence civilians of the unit for their contribution and also felicitated employees of Kochi Corporation, who are employed in clearing garbage from Vathuruthy Village. The Chief Guest for the event, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, appreciated efforts of the unit.
