Navy Day Commemorative Activities at Kochi

On the occasion of Navy Day, Vice Admiral AK Chawla PVSM, AVSM, NM, VSM, ADC Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command, laid a wreath on behalf of the command during a solemn ceremony conducted at the Naval War Memorial inside naval base, Kochi on 04 December 2020 to pay homage to the naval personnel who made the supreme sacrifice while defending the nation.

Besides this, all the warships in harbour at Kochi were “dressed overall” with multi-coloured signal flags and pennants as is the tradition to mark the occasion.

Navy Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the Indian Navy’s audacious and devastating attack on Karachi harbour on this very day during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, which contributed to the ultimate victory of the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistan.
