Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar Assumes Charge as Chief of Staff, WNC

Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, assumed charge as the Chief of Staff WNC on 25 May 2024. A Missile and Gunnery specialist he has the distinction of commanding five warships, including INS Vikramaditya and was the commissioning CO of INS Trikand. In a career spanning over 35 years, he has held a multitude of staff and afloat appointments, which include Joint Director at DNP, Director at DSR and Principal Director DSCT amongst others. On promotion to Flag Rank, the officer took over duties of ACCP and ACWP and A. He thereafter commanded the Western Fleet. Prior to assuming his present appointment, he was Commandant, National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla NDA.
