LOCATION

Nestled in the Sahyadris at Lonavla, occasionally blanketed in clouds, is the alma-mater of naval engineers - Indian Naval Ship Shivaji. The base is located around 6 kms from the Lonavla town. The road from Tata dam to Bhushi dam leads to the main outer gate of INS Shivaji. Another motorable road, starting from the road leading from town to the old NH4 highway to the Kali Mata temple gate of the establishment connects INS Shivaji to Lonavla. The road, constructed recently, passes through the adjoining Kurwande village and provides an uninterrupted alternate route for Shivaji community going to Lonavla town during the monsoons when the main road through the Bhushi dam is severely blocked with tourists.
