SYSTEMS AND AUXILIARIES (SAX) WING

Front Façade – SAX WingThe Systems and Auxiliaries (SAX) Wing established on 06 Oct 93 as the Auxiliary Machinery Wing is the nodal centre for technical training on a wide variety of auxiliaries and associated ship systems fitted onboard IN ships. Owing to the diverse nature of auxiliaries and ship systems in service, the SAX Wing has a vast charter of duties to perform which it fulfils through 11 live bays, laboratories and workshops in addition to the conventional classroom set up. The training infrastructure at SAX Wing has undergone a major upgradation with the commissioning of the Valve Overhauling Bay, Predictive Technology Lab and the Good Engineering Practices Bay for enhanced ‘Hands-on-Skill’ training. In addition, training facilities on Steering Gear, Stabiliser, Controllable Pitch Propeller, Fixed Fire Fighting System and auxiliaries such as HP Air Compressors, Oily Water Separators and AC & Ref Plants which are common to all ships facilitate an exhaustive training curriculum for trainee officers and sailors undergoing basic, specialisation and mid-level courses.
